Airlines often oversell flights to account for expected no-shows, preventing potential revenue loss and contributing to higher fares and lower profits over time. While this strategy has improved, it remains uncertain, and denied boardings are costly for airlines. To address this, Mexico’s VivaAerobus is exploring a StubHub-style model, with a third-party vendor. On the other hand, instead of a third-party vendor, Fairlyne assists airlines in creating directly their own resale experience, allowing customers to resell tickets and receive vouchers, generating revenue from sold-out flights. This model is particularly effective for airlines with non-refundable, non-changeable ticket policies.
